Who Are We? As part of our mission, the Louisiana SPCA combats animal cruelty through a variety of diverse programs and services including humane education and our New Orleans Humane Law & Rescue. The Louisiana SPCA is the only contracted organization that provides animal control and rescue services for Orleans Parish. Our Humane Officers:
Although we are contracted to provide animal control services for New Orleans, our animal cruelty work is not limited to parish boundaries. For large scale cruelty cases our Humane Officers are often called to assist national organizations with dog fighting busts, puppy mill raids and investigations. We are a founding member of the Canine CODIS Fighting Dog Combined DNA Index System along with the ASPCA and UC Davis.
What Can You Do?
You can make a difference in the fight against animal cruelty by reporting suspected cruelty. Review the animal cruelty ordinances, and if you suspect someone is violating these ordinances please report them immediately! Come forward as a witness - without witnesses we are unable to prosecute cruelty crimes. The technology used in animal cruelty investigations still does not guarantee a guilty verdict. We need citizens who are willing to stand up against this senseless act. Your vigilance can help put an end to animal cruelty!
