More About Nonie
(that is what her grandkids call her)

Liz Serda-Schneider, aka Nonie — Founder & CEO

After nearly 30 years navigating the demanding worlds of liability insurance and longshore workers' compensation — and later consulting for a local plaintiff law firm, helping their attorneys understand how to investigate and evaluate cases the way an adjuster would, and craft demand letters that truly move the needle — Liz Serda-Schneider made a deliberate choice: to build something she loved.

That choice became Nonie's Pet Care. But if you want to understand Liz, you have to go back much further. At ten years old, she was attacked by a German Shepherd and went through four plastic surgeries. It never changed her love for animals — if anything, it made her more determined to understand them. That experience planted a seed that would grow, quietly, for decades before it became something she built her life around.

Over the years, she has also quietly rehabbed animals who came to her broken — abandoned, traumatized, fearful — and helped them find their footing again. Not as a trainer. Just as someone who learned, through experience and empathy, how to listen to animals in a way most people never do.

What began as one woman with a passion and a purpose has grown into one of the most established and trusted in-home pet care companies in the New Orleans and Metairie area — built without a boarding facility or daycare, because Liz believed from the start that pets are best cared for in the comfort, peace, and safety of their own home. Some of the families who found Nonie’s in those early days are still clients today, their trust deepening alongside a team that has grown from dedicated dog walkers and pet sitters into a skilled, loving staff of nearly 20 — including experienced caregivers who are educated and experienced with senior pets, special-needs pets, and pets needing extra hands-on attention, always following the guidance of your pet’s own veterinarian.

Her faith as a Christian shapes everything about the way Nonie's operates — doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, and showing up for the community in meaningful ways. Liz has organized fundraisers for animals in need and rallied her team to assist shelters in the aftermath of major floods and storms. Serving her community isn't a marketing strategy. It's just who she is.

Liz also holds certifications in Pet First Aid and Life Saving  techniques through Pet Tech, along with continuing education in pet behavior, fearful dogs, and separation anxiety. But her greatest credential is the trust she has earned — visit by visit, family by family — over more than a decade of caring for the pets of this community as if they were her own.
